An outbreak of parakeratosis in a piggery unit with extensive dry skin lesions was diagnosed based on serum zinc and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and zinc and calcium content of feed after ruling out mange and dermatophytes. Recovery was seen in 3 - 4 and 7 - 8 weeks in moderately and severely affected animals respectively with zinc supplementation of feed @ 200 mg/kg of feed.
