Abstract

Present Study indicated that 5 different types of cercariae were encountered in 6 different types of aquatic snails in various river bank districts of Bihar. Lamnea auricularia, Gyraulus convexiusculus, Indoplanorbis exustus, Melanoides tuberculata, Vivipara bengalensis and L. luteola were found to be prevalent fresh water snails and the rate of infection was found to be 6.75, 4.60,10.79, 1.31, 0.05 and 3.70%, respectively. Out of positive snails; emergence of Amphistostome cercariae was recorded in Melanoides tuberculata and Lymnea luteola snails (100%) followed by Indoplanorbis exustus (67.72%) and Gyraulus convexiusculus (43.95%) whereas furcocercus was observed in Indoplanorbis exustus (32.27%), Gyraulus convexiusculus (53.84%) and Vivipara bengalensis (100%). Similarly 32.67% and 2.19% Xiphidio were found in Lymnea auricularia and Gyraulus convexiusculus infected snails respectively 66.76% Gymnocephalus was found in Lymnea auricularia.
