Abstract

A total of 36 dogs irrespective of breed, age and sex showing clinical symptoms of otitis externa were studied to isolate the microbiological etiology. The study revealed that bacterial otitis externa was more common (69.45%) than of fungal origin. Bacterial isolates included genera Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas, Corynebacterium, E. coli and Bacillus. Fungal isolates included yeast such as Malassezia (11.47%) along with Candida and Aspergillus spp. (3.27% each) in the aural canal.
