An investigation was carried out among the farmers and milk producers of ten villages of the Budgam district of Kashmir valley for obtaining the information on their status of feeds and fodder availability and production of various animal products. It was observed that there was shortage of feeds and fodders and farmers fed their livestock on unproductive poor quality roughages with little or no supplementation. It was also observed that the area was deficit of all animal products except the milk production which accounts approximately 74.77 thousand tonnes surplus every year. However, it was observed that there is ample scope to increase animal products in the valley by increasing feed and fodder production.
