Cytotoxicity study on ficus religiosa and ziziphus mauritiana leaf extracts against MCF-7 cancer cell line

Abstract

Different parts of Ficus religiosa and Ziziphus mauritiana tree has traditional usage against many ailments and diseases. In the present study, in vitro anticancer potential of leaf extracts of F. religiosa and Z. mauritiana against MCF-7 (Human breast adenocarcinoma cell line) was investigated. The aqueous extract of F. religiosa was found to markedly inhibit the proliferation of MCF-7 cells in a dose-dependent manner, whereas the methanol extract of the same did not show any such effect.
