Abstract

The present study was conducted to assess the animal health welfare practices followed by farmers of Madhubani district of Bihar. In comparison to farmers in rural areas, periurban farmers had practiced more vaccination protocol for their animals for ailments like Hemorrhagic septicaemia, Foot and Mouth disease and Black quarter. Twenty five per cent of farmers in rural area and 41.6 per cent in peri-urban were followed vaccination against HS, FMD and BQ diseases. Care of milch and draught animal was satisfactory from welfare point of view while care of dry animal was poor as perceived by veterinary officers.
