The present study was carried out to compare the cognitive status and functional competence of community-dwelling 240 older adults, both males (N=126) and females ( N=1l4) from the rural and urban areas of 6 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The standardized tool, MMSE, and Disability scales were used to assess the cognitive status and functional competence among older people. The results show people with high cognitive functioning had a high level of functional competence.
