The present comparative research, conducted with utmost objectivity, wasdesigned to assess the life satisfaction and mental health of 1000 elderly (504 males and 496 females) living in Shelter Homes (N=500) and within Family Setups (N=500) of different Districts' of Madhya Pradesh. They were administered the Mental Health Inventory (MH-5) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) for data collection. The study s findings revealed a significant difference in life satisfaction among the elderly living in Shelter Homes and within Family Setups. The results also revealed no significant difference in mental health among the elderly in the present study. In addition to that, the results revealed no significant difference in mental health and life satisfaction among the elderly concerning their gender and residence.
