Manufacturing is the main engine of growth for developing countries such as India and China. The low cost of production is becoming a natural reason for companies across the globe to setup their manufacturing facilities in these countries. This, on one side provides employment and contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country but on the other side, puts pressure on the resources such as air, water and land. Therefore the development based on manufacturing activities is to be a very thoughtful decision. Advanced manufacturing techniques with suitable manufacturing management system should be the mandatory requirement for upcoming manufacturing facilities. The present paper is an attempt to propose Advanced Manufacturing Management System (AMMS) which includes advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs), manufacturing management principles and green manufacturing concepts. The methodology adopted is review of literature. The expert opinion is used to validate the findings of review and to propose a framework. This paper is expected to develop a bridge between engineering and management view, related to sustainable manufacturing.
