Ventures from India have been evolving quite well. Some of them have come close to the trajectories of the best of ventures in the world that scaled-up to become regional leaders. Yet, many others seem to be stagnating despite high potential. Among the reasons for such problems related to ventures, a major branch of ‘root cause diagram’ with high-potential root causes may be ‘gaps in international competitiveness’. Initiatives such as, ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and ‘Startup India’ have helped increase the quantity of ventures. Time is relevant to make sense of the quality dimension, particularly for ventures that have strategic intent, have been building capabilities, and have the potential to scale-up and compete internationally. Success in that demands international capabilities. This article just gives a glimpse of perspectives, to help researchers, business leaders and policy makers to identify issues, understand them and make better choices to enhance their contributions towards evolving a sound and sustainable venture ecosystem from India.
