From the disturbed ratios obtained in certain F2 progenies of crosses between 21 different Chinese Spring monosomics and the variety Cometa Klein, it appears that Gometa Klein carries two recessive factors located on chromosomes IV and VI which control resistance to race H and one recessive gene on chromosome IX controlling resistance to race 13, of yellow rust. The genes conferring rust resistance seem to occur more in the A and B genome components of bread wheat. Chromosome substitution lines offer promise for being used as differentials for the identification of physiologic races of rusts.
