Cytological Basis for a Case of Sterility in an Interspecific Wheat Hybrid

Highly sterile individual plants have been observed in an interspecific wheat hybrid between Triticum dicoccoides and T. durum. The sterile plants occurring in the F₄ generation have been cytologically studied and the sterilty is attributed to extensive chromosome fragmentation arising from stickiness of chromosomes.
