Twelve pachytene bivalents in a strain of Oryza sativa could be identified, based upon their length and arm ratios. The distinguishing features of each of these chromosomes are reported. The karyomorphological data obtained from this study are discussed in the light of earlier reports based upon the analysis of somatic metaphases.
