Inheritance of some Characters in the Field Bean

In crosses between wal types 3 and 21, hair direction, pod width, seed shape and seed colour were found to be monogenically controlled while pod position and pod-surface were controlled by duplicate factors. No recombinations were observed between pod width and seed shape and between pod position and pod surface and it has been suggested that this may be due to pleiotropic gene action or to very tight linkage. The factors for hair direction, pod width, pod position and seed colour were found to be independent from each other.
