The results of studies conducted to find out the diversity of resistant factors, carried by different breeding stocks, for field resistance to Indian races of black rust are reported.
The varieties Gabo, N.P. 798, E. 871, E. 1913, in view of their susceptibility to black rust, were considered to be no longer desirable for breeding work with specific reference to this rust.
The factors carried by N.P. 790, E. 581 and E. 2842 for field resistance to Indian races of black rust were found to be different from each other.
