Abstract

Inheritance of colour characters in crosses in gram involving three parents, alternifolia, Gadag 1-2 and Hara-chana is reported. It was found that the gene Gr produces green colour in the leaf, and also results in yellow colour in cotyledon and brown testa while the recessive allele (gr) gives bluish green leaves, green cotyledons and green testa. The black testa colour is caused by two complementary factors Tba and Tbb. These are epistatic to Gr gr in regard to expression of testa colour only.
