Abstract

The present investigation has shown that, (i) glume colour in the cross, Sundhia jowar-1049 X Sweet Sudan, is monogenic in inheritance, with complete dominance of reddish purple over sienna glume colour; and (ii) two complementary genes are responsible for the production of brown grain colour; absence of any one or both of them results in the production of white grain colour.
