The inheritance of field reaction to black rust was studied in nine inter-varietal crosses of T. dicoccum. Three dominant factors are present in E. 4367 and E. 4340, the presence of any one of which results in susceptibility. Two dominant factors are present in E. 4325 and E. 2156, the presence of any one of which results in susceptibility. The crosses N.P. 200 X N.P. 201, N.P. 200 X H.W. 40 and N.P. 200 X H.W. 28, showed that, that a single dominant gene for susceptibility is present in N.P. 200. In the cross H.W. 1 X H.W. 20, the presence of a pair of dominant factors in H.W. 1 is indicated.
In the cross N.P. 200 X H.W. 41, there is interaction of a pair of complementary genes, one contributed by each susceptible parent, resulting in resistance.
