The mode of inheritance of field reaction to leaf rust was studied in eight crosses involving Gold and Lechtaler as the resistant varieties and C. 138-2, C. 251, BR 22, E. B. 410 and CI 2256, as the susceptible varieties.
A single dominant factor pair conditioned adult plant resistance of Lechtaler and Gold. The factor pairs for resistance in Gold and Lechtaler were allelic and were inherited independently of the marker genes, V v, N n, R r and Lb lb of the linkage groups, I, III, V and V respectively.
