The mode of inheritance of field reaction to brown rust, partial sterility and pigmentation in crosses involving St. 464, an Ethiopian variety, Gaza, H. I. 7.75 and Kathia-21, all durum varieties, were studied. The data indicated the operation of two recessive gene pairs, which appeared to be either allelic or very closely linked with those present in Gaza, for field resistance to brown rust in St. 464. Partial sterility and pigmentation were observed to be under the control of two complementary genes.
