Abstract

Inheritance of field resistance to the Indian races of stripe rust was studied in 12 crosses of barley. The resistant parents involved were E.B. 410, E.B. 438 and Lechtaler while the susceptible varieties were C. 138-2, C. 251, B.R. 22, Reka I, Gold, Quinn and Black deficiens. The field resistance of Lechtaler and E.B. 438 was found to be governed by two recessive complementary factors. E.B. 410 carried one recessive factor pair in its cross with B.R. 22. The factors governing stripe rust resistance of E.B. 410, E.B. 438 and Lechtaler were inherited independently of the marker genes, V v, VtV, G g, B b, N n, and S s of the linkage groups I, I, I, II, III and V respectively.
