Abstract

Extent of natural cross-pollination in cumin under Anand conditions was observed to be 2.35 per cent. in a total population of 1,619 plants. Progenies from plants protected from foreign pollen by covering unopened buds with tissue paper bags were all white-flowered and hence selfed. Progenies from plants protected with cage covered with muslin bags showed 4.44 per cent. cross-pollination in a total of 405 plants indicating that cumin is a wind pollinated crop.
