Abstract

The genes for resistance to Indian races of linseed rust (Melampsora lini) in a number of differential varieties of the host plant have been studied. It has been found that differentials Ottawa 770B, Minnesota Selection, Dakota Ward, Cass, Victory-A, Polk, Koto and Leona carry two resgenes operative against Indian races while Bowman has three; other differentials studied were found to be monogenic for resistance. The location of the resgenes in the five loci proposed earlier by Flor has been determined.
