In functional male-sterile mutants observed in brown sarson (Brassica campestris var. brown sarson), the anthers contained abundance of viable pollen but there was no dehiscence. No morphological difference was noted between non-dehiscence type and normal plants; however, in the former, the anthers remained plump for a longer period. Functional male-sterility in this material is monogenically recessive to the normal condition.
