Abstract

The inheritance of red kernel, cluster habit and glutinous endosperm was studied in a cross between J.B.S. 294 and Ac. 869. Light red kernel colour was found to be due to a dominant gene Rc, whereas the expression of clustered habit of grains involved two complementary genes (Cla, Clb). Rc and Cla, Clb were not linked. An aberrant ratio (8 St: 1 G) was noted with respect to endosperm character.
