Abstract

Four crosses between pure lines of sem (Dolichos lablab L.) differing widely in vitamin C content were studied. One showed heterotic expression in vitamin C content-94⋅75 per cent. and 47⋅91 per cent. over the mid-parent and better parent respectively-and two exhibited dominance of higher content, while the fourth was very near to the mid-parent. Crosses of line 6010 with lines 6015, 6019 and 6023A behaved differently in this respect.
