Abstract

Mutants with speltoid and vavilovoid characteristics as well as with the key characters of T. durum and T. turgidum were recovered in the M2 population of T. pyramidale treated with ethylmethane sulphonate. T. pyramidale differs from T. turgidum primarily in ear compactness and the relationship between these two species is similar to that between T. aestivum and sub-species compactum.
