Two wheat crosses: (1) Norin 10/3 Pn 2/2 Kaw and (2) Norin 10/5 Pawnee were made to study the inheritance of plant height and kernel weight among other characteristics at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas (U.S.A.).
The minimum number of factor pairs involved in the expression of culm length and kernel weight were estimated on the F3 data with necessary adjustments. The number of effective factors for both characters were about 2. These values were checked by the chi-square test for goodness of fit based on the frequency distribution for the proposed Mendelian mono- and di-hybrid ratios.
