The parents F1, F2 and first back-cross generation to the parent HD(60)-1035 of the cross (HD(60)-1035 X E871) were grown in unreplicated space planted nurseries during rabi 1961–62 for studying the mode of inheritance of some of the attributes associated with lodging in wheat.
The genetical analysis of the segregating behaviour of the hybrid populations indicated the quantitative nature of inheritance of the characters, viz., breaking-strength of straw, unit-length weight and culm diameter. Trans-gressive segregation was observed in respect of each of the three characters. Scaling tests revealed the adequacy of the natural scales used for measuring variability.
