1 A part of the M.Sc. Thesis submitted by O. P. Dutta to the University of Udaipur.
A comparison of F1 hybrids of longmelon and snapmelon including reciprocals and the parental lines, was undertaken at the Horticultural Farm, College of Agriculture, Jobner.
Hybrids resembled snapmelon in the number of fruiting cycles, fruit shape, pericarp colour, nature of suture, pattern of ribbing and fruit cracking. Heterosis in fruit yield appeared to be the result of increased fruit number, fruit weight, and increased fruit wall thickness.
