The inheritance of adult-plant resistance to leaf rust was studied in six intervarietal crosses using E. 4717, E. 4871 and E. 4894 as sources of rust resistance and K. 65 and RS. 31-1 as susceptible parents. Resistance of the three donors was observed to be governed by three factor pairs, two of which were complementary in action. It was further observed that the genes carried by these exotic varieties were probably allelic in nature.
