Abstract

In Tithonia, it has been possible to induce mutations through irradiation of seeds, giving rise to qualitative variations of desirable nature, viz. change in colour from orange red to yellow and striped types. However, the radiation treatment also induced quantitative variation for a large number of characters and there is need to practice selection for several generations in order to produce a true breeding mutant line.
