Indian barleys grown at Delhi have been examined for protein content, diastatic power, insoluble carbohydrate, 1000 kernel weight and extract value by prediction equation. There is a positive correlation (+ 0.640) between protein content and diastatic power and a negative correlation (−0.315) between diastatic power and insoluble carbohydrate and between insoluble carbohydrate and predicted extract value (−0.750). Based on the available data some promising strains of barley for breeding purpose have been indicated.
