Inheritance of Growth Habit and Panicle Density in Rice

Inheritance studies in a cross- Telikirisal-4 × Kagisali-44-1 1n rice indicated that erect habit of growth of tillers was dominant over spreading habit and was due to two complementary factors (Ert_a and Ert_b). Two other complementary factors (Lxp_a and Lxp_b) were found to be responsible for lax panicle which was dominant over compact panicle. The factors responsible for these two characters as well as those for scentedness and early flowering assorted independently of each other.
