‘Palmate’ macromutant in jute (Corchorus olitorius L.) was found to aafect the phenotypes of cotyledon, leaf shape, length/breadth ratio of leaf and angle of venation from the base of the leaf along the mid rib. A single pair of factors Pl/pl was found to control all these phenotypes. Possible nature of gene action at this locus has been discussed.
