In a correlation and path coefficient study in six F2 populations of green-gram, grain yield was observed to be positively associated with pods and clusters per plant. Seeds per pod also showed positive correlation with yield in all the crosses except those involving P 23–67 as one of the parents. Path coefficient analysis showed that pods per plant was the major factor contributing to yield and that selection should be focussed primarily on pod number but the latter can be increased by increasing number of clusters per plant as these are positively associated with each other. The direct effect of seed size on grain yield was dependent on its correlation with yield and also on the cross combination.
