Abstract

Seven chilli crosses were grown with their parents in randomised block design. Three crosses, 5416-4 × 6718, 5403 × 6718 and 6718 × 6004 gave significantly higher yield than the better parent, 6718. This suggests that these crosses can be utilized for commercial exploitation of hybrid vigour in pickle group. An association was also observed between yield per plant, fruit length and fruit thickness. Heterosis was also observed for fruit number per plant, height and fruit length. Thick fruits showed complete dominance over thin fruits.
