Abstract

Gram wilt has been a serious threat to the cultivation of gram crop. There are two schools of thought as to how the disease is caused. One school of thought is of the view that a fungus Fusarium orthoceras var. ciceri is wholly responsible for the outbreak of the disease. Another school of thought is of the view that the development of this disease is dependent upon certain environmental factors such as temperature and soil moisture. This paper presents a critical review of the causal organism of the disease, symptoms, identification of the disease and finally the agronomical manipulations that could be successfully followed to minimize the incidence of wilt along with future lines of research work
