Meiotic behaviour of the colchicine induced tetraploid in brinjal is described. The quadrivalent frequency was reduced while the frequency of univalent, bivalent and trivalent is increased during metaphase I as compared to diakinesis, probably due to precocious separation of chromosomes of the multivalents. Anaphasic irregularities were also observed. The irregularities on female side were expected to be equally responsible for poor setting.
