During the last kharif season a field trial for determining the relative response to Azotobacter cullure at different levels of niirogen appllcation was carried out at Dharwar. At all levels of nitrogen, favourable response from application of Azotobacter was sealised. The efficiency of niirogen in terms of grain yield was improved and varied from 16 to 37%. Extensive studies have been planned for the forthcoming kharif season at all the maize research centres of Coordinated Maize Improvement Scheme.
