The inheritance of desynapsis in pearl millet has been reported. Two genetic stocks were crossed with desynaptic plants. The F1 plants were normal ind F2 plants segregated into a ratio of 3:1 in both the crosses. These results:showed that desynaptic character was controlled by a single recessive gene and the gene symbol ds is proposed for this.
