Abstract

Three varieties, Niwas, IPS-158 and IPS-179 of Paspalum scrobilatum (Lin.) were irradiated with different doses of gamma rays and were stored in descicators at 4°C and 30°C indefinitely. Observations on the germination mortality and seedling injury were recorded after 0, 1, 3 and six months of post, irradiation storage. Results show considerable modification of radiation damage due to prolonged storage. Also there was increase in the rate of reduction in germination, mortality and seedling injury when treated seeds were stored at 30°C. It is suggested to store irradiated seeds at 4°C or still low temperature for a long without altering mutagenic damage.
