Abstract

Excised embryos of wheat, triticale and rice were grown under in vitro conditions. Unlike in earlier methods, the seedlings were allowed to grow in culture media upto 2- to 3- leaf stage without transferring them to nutrient solution. Seedings were uprooted alongwith agar medium by the blowing method and planted in pots. Higher percentage of established seedlings at the time of maturity was obtained. Transfer of younger seedlings from culture tube to nutrient solution resulted in severe mortality.
