In the studies on the influence of environment on inheritance pattern of resistance to bacterial blight in rice, a change in the direction of disease reaction was observed when tested under two sets of conditions. The critical environment for proper disease development was found to be a major prerequisite for effective screening of the segregating populations and precise understanding of the inheritance pattern.
