Reanalyses of the published data on inheritance of pathogenicity in rust reveal that in many of the studies the data were obtained by an unreliable or uncontrolled selfing method, or the hypotheses were based on inadequate size of populations, inadequate or inappropriate genetic tests, or unjustified interpretations.
