Abstract

Resistance of ‘Hannchen’ and ‘EC 24882’ to races 5 and 14 of U. hordei was found to be governed by one dominant gene each. The genes conferring resistance in ‘Hannchen’ and ‘EC 24882’ were found to be different. Two complementary genes were found to be responsible for conferring resistance in ‘Himalaya’ to races 5 and 14. None of the two complementary genes of ‘Himalaya’ was common with the single dominant gene of ‘Hannchen’.
