Certain floral anomalies (petals resembling sepals and conversion of stamens into carpels) were observed in a single plant segregating M2 progeny of 40 kR gamma irradiated Linum usitatissimum L. ‘Neelum’. The sepaloid corolla persisted till capsule maturity and a whorl of 5 carpels around the capsule remained as such throughout. This unique change was also associated with complete ovule sterility as no seed setting after suitable crossing was recorded. The genetic analysis revealed that these induced anomalies were due to a single factor and were expressed when it was in a homozygous recessive phase.
