Abstract

Genetic analysis of three gamma-ray induced translocation lines in barley cultivar ‘K 12’ was made to identify the chromosomes involved and to locate breakpoints from F2 data. Partial sterility showed linkage with markers on chromosome 1 and 4 in the 3047, 1 and 3 in line 3103 and 4 and 7 in line 3104. These lines were designated as T 1–4 (3047), T 1–3 (3103) and T4–7 (3104). In T 1–4, PS showed 25.73±3.70 per cent cross over value with k and the breakpoint was located towards the centromere of chromosome 4. T 4–7 breakpoint was located near the centromere of chromosome 4, the distances from genes k and bl being 18.01 ±3.91 and 19.77 ±4.21 cross over units, respectively. In chromosome 7, T 4–7 was found to be 26.57 ± 5 • 63 cross over units away from s gene and it was placed in the short arm.
