Abstract

Inheritance of resistance to brown planthopper was studied in a cross ‘RP 31-49-2’ (susceptible) × ‘Leb Muey Nahng (moderately resistant). Resistance to brown planthopper was controlled by a pair of recessive genes. Work is in progress to identify lines having high yielding ability and resistance to brown planthopper and other major diseases. Lines have been identfied possessing multiple resistance. Cultures from ‘Vijaya’ × ‘Ptb 21’ combination appear very promising.
