Abstract

The nature and extent of heterosis was estimated in 7 parent diallel crosses. The D2 statistic and inbreeding depression were also computed for establishing interrelationship among heterosis, inbreeding depression and the divergence. Out of 21 crosses, 11 exhibited heterosis over better and 9 crosses over the best parent for grain yield. Maximum heterosis over better and best parent was 124⋅5 and 76⋅5% respectively.
